Daily Living Assistance: How The NDIS Can Support You
Daily Living Assistance is a type of NDIS support that may be funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life. This category is designed to help participants with everyday tasks where disability affects their ability to do those tasks safely or independently. The intention is to support daily functioning at home and in the community in ways that are reasonable and necessary for the participant.
Daily Living Assistance can be used for support with personal and household routines. Depending on a participant’s plan and needs, this might include help with personal care (such as showering, dressing, grooming, mealtime support, or toileting), help with domestic tasks that relate directly to daily living (such as basic meal preparation, laundry, or maintaining a clean and safe environment), and support to complete everyday community activities (such as attending appointments or shopping where a participant cannot do so safely alone). Each participant’s use of this support should be linked to their goals and circumstances.
Support levels differ for every person. Some participants require a small amount of weekly assistance, while others require daily or higher-intensity personal support. The NDIS funds supports based on individual need, evidence, and goal alignment. If someone’s needs are complex, the plan may include higher-intensity daily personal activities.
We provide daily living assistance across Devonport and Northern Tasmania, with support planned around participant preferences, dignity, and safety. If you want help understanding whether this category is in your plan, or how to use it in a way that matches your goals, we can walk through it with you.
