NDIS Day Programs: Benefits, Activities, and Eligibility
NDIS day programs are structured group supports delivered by providers to help participants work toward social, community, and independence goals. The NDIS does not prescribe a single “day program model,” so programs vary between providers and are designed to reflect participant goals and support needs.
Many participants use day programs to build routine, develop social confidence, and increase participation in their community. Programs often combine skill development with safe, supported social activities. When the activities are goal-linked and appropriate for the participant, day programs can be a practical way to work on areas such as communication, community access, daily living participation, and wellbeing.
Activities differ by program, but they commonly reflect participant interests and goals. A program may include supported community outings, group skill sessions (for example cooking, planning routines, or technology use), creative activities, or wellbeing-based movement activities. These are examples only, the relevant question is whether the activities are suitable and aligned with participant goals.

Funding for day programs is generally drawn from plan supports that relate to social and community participation, and sometimes capacity-building supports depending on the goals and the nature of the program. Eligibility therefore depends on a participant’s individual plan and goals. If you are unsure whether your current funding can be used for a day program, a Support Coordinator or provider can help interpret your plan.
Our day programs are designed around participant choice, safety, and goal alignment. If you want to explore programs or understand how they connect to your plan, we can help you review options in plain English.
